Data driven decisions shouldn’t be hard

What problem do we aspire to solve, or at least put a dent into?

Look around you, in the the news or the myriad of dashboards and presentations you use throughout your work day. Are those charts and dashboards making it easy for you?  Can you quickly grasp what to do with the information presented?   Or are they making your brain work hard to understand if there is a problem or not?  Worse, do you need to download data and crunch it yourself in a spreadsheet to gain meaning?   Or worst of all, have you just stopped looking?

We believe you deserve better.  Better than a pivot table passed off as data analysis. Better than a collection of charts on a page with whatever default settings came with the software program.  Better than a dashboard that makes you filter, search and download to find an answer. I believe the deluge of charts and analytics that aren’t made to communicate to humans is holding people from making their best possible decisions.

If you are frustrated with the amount of mental or physical work if takes to use data to make a decision, caught in a deluge of charts that make little to no sense or believe that data driven decisions should not be hard to make, we believe we can help you.

How?  By helping humans learn to communicate data better to humans.  For the vast majority of the world, the dashboard producers and consumers alike, learning how to read data is not part of the curriculum, not part of the day to day or corporate training programs.  It’s a blind spot, people are just thrown into the world awash with data and expected to swim. Fast.

Why is it a blind spot? We lived with the blind spot, for years.  As dashboard producers having to learn to make data readable, not always successfully.  As a senior managers, having to consume poorly communicated data.  And as mentors, working with talented data people straight out of school in the 2020s who still don’t receive training in how to communicate data to humans.

How can we help clear the data fog?  We start with two engaging live sessions

  • Short Dashboard Workshops to give some education on how humans perceive data and then go hands on to improve existing data

  • Full day training to give non technical SMEs the starting skills to becoming a data analyst who can create good dashboards, analyse data and communicate the results for action

If you are a senior manager tired of the brain drain working with poorly communicated data, engage us to show your data people how to do it better.  If you are a practitioner, why not connect us with your HR - perhaps we can help your company. If not, join one of our open to anyone sessions.

Data driven decisions should be easy.
